Churchill vs Chamberlain

From the readings, it seems that Churchill was the man who knew what was coming in Germany, but had no power to prevent any of it. It also seems like Chamberlain is the biggest buffoon to work for the British government. I was wondering what other people thought about this. Is hindsight 20/20 or was this how people thought at the time?

I don't know if I would call Chamberlain a buffoon, but it does seem like he was a either a pretty big pushover or completely clueless when it came to what was going on. However, from the little bit I know about this time, it seems like there was a lot going on in the world both good and bad. I can see how it could be hard to catch everything that was going on. On the other hand, I am still not sure how he missed the trouble Hitler was beginning to create.
I agree with you, the readings did make it sound like Churchill had some idea of what was coming. I am curious if there were a lot of people who believed Churchill's perspective.
