American training
I thought it was interesting to learn about American training for Operation Overlord. I thought it was interesting how ill prepard the troops were trained for battle once they were on the contintent. However, even without proper training it was great that troops were able to make due with what they had as it had to have been incredibly difficult and frustrating.

Yes, no doubt our troops over there were having quite a time int he hedgerows of Eurpope. I assume combat is one of the worst times to learn through trial and error, because all too often, errors = deaths.
Add to this the fact that they had no warm winter clothing or enough supplies and it just astonishes me that our troops didn't revolt(I'm probably just saying this because I am freezing right now). To have so little and have so much expected of you is frustrating enough without adding the chance of death to the equation.
I see it as sad how poorly trained the Allied troops were for battle. It is apparent that courage, pride, and a will to survive carried them through in many instances, however, these mind sets had to be instilled by commanders who saw the need to inspire and encourage as well as lead.
I think maybe the reason the Allies focused so much time on training for the initial landing was because if the landing failed there would be no follow on action and just got focused on that one goal. I’m not saying that gives them an excuse but just maybe it was a reason why.
