White Phosphorus

Its hard to image what soldiers went through when attacked with white phosphorus. Unless they were shielded with steel they were defenseless and burned to the bone. It would clearly be effective, but just gives perspective about how horrible the circumstances were in these battles. I think the pictures illustrate this.

I agree. It would be effective in creating a smoke scene and harming the enemy. However, it would be very frighting to come up against as you had no was to get away from it, no way to protect yourself against it.

white phosphorus, like the feared German 88mm gun was an effective weapon used in many scenario's. it was also used in the ammunition of fighter aircraft in WWII and i think in Korea as well were it could easily burn through aircraft aluminum right through to the fuel tanks or ammo storage parts of the wings on enemy fighters

This would have to be one of the best options of the time. It was a great idea as long as you were not on the receiving end of the attack. I wonder what the accidental casualties were due to this weapon, and it was probably more emotionally devastating as well.
