Anti-war Protests?

After Pearl Harbor I understand that there were very few Americans that didn't feel obligated to join the war effort, but for those that did oppose the war did protests make any difference to the war effort in the U.S.?
Where there any big names or "celebrities" that are known to have protested the war, and if so how did that change their status?

I read once that 1 out of every 6 people in prison at the time were draft resisters, but right now I can find no sources to back up that statistic.

Otherwise, I can find little out there that covers this topic. I think this is a very interesting question. So much of the propaganda from this time that I've seen seemed to be American anti-Japanese stuff or Japanese anti-American. And I always hear about the hollywood stars at the time that enlisted, not those who opposed the war.
