I think it's interesting how the battles of Anzio and Monte Cassino were affected at least in part by preparation for Overlord. The lecture Weds touched on how there were shortages of troops for those 2 engagements because of plans for Overlord
I had no idea that operation overlord was about the D-Day invasion. I guess I had always thought that the battle and invasion were just literally called D-Day. But im glad I learned more about the whole operation. I knew the difficulty of the paratroopers but I did not realize that most of them lost their supplies in the parachuting.
