Presentations
I thought the presentation of Monte Casino was really interesting. I had heard of the battle but didn't realize that it was made up of four different battles. I had also never thought about how much terrain and weather play into winning battles. The Germans had a big advantage by being in the mountains instead of the valleys like the Allies.

If you found that battle interesting you might also check out a documentary made last year, RAPE OF EUROPE. It was originaly a book and was recently made into documentary, you might find both interesting.
It essencially describes how the Nazis went through Europe taking all the art that was housed in various museums, homes, ect. There is a really good segment about that battle and how the allies were trying not to harm the abby due to the fact that there was probably alot of art inside. Ofcourse, at some point it appeared more effective to just bomb it, but it provides an interesting perspective on the motives behind battle stratagies.
It also talks a fair amout about the bombing in Venice, and efforts to protect art there.
Speaking of the rape of europe I can not wait to read the book for the scandals that went on with the stealing of art. They are still sorting out today who proper owners are and finding new pieces every month that were declared lost from WWII, it is actually amazing how often the auction houses christies and sothebys come across these works that were once declared lost.
